Developing a pioneering urban sustainability policy for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
The Estidama PRS program is a pioneering urban sustainability policy in the region that was developed by the Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council. It sets basic and advanced sustainability performance criteria for urban communities, buildings and villas located in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
Medina Works –in partnership with engineering firm Buro Happold- was involved in the development of the PRS and supported its initial phase of implementation. This process involved extensive stakeholder engagement and ongoing policy refinement to respond to the local natural and urban contexts and address current market capabilities and potential. Key additional activities undertaken include a pilot phase, the development of a multi-stakeholder training program, ongoing public awareness, and a supply chain analysis and drive.
